Cell Coffee Table

A Unique and Versatile Coffee Table Designed by Anna Moraitou

This coffee table draws inspiration from a chess game, featuring an alternating pattern of black and white squares.

Anna Moraitou, the renowned designer behind Desarch Architects, has created a truly unique and versatile piece of furniture with the Cell Coffee Table. This innovative design challenges the norms of consumption and mass production, while also elevating the aesthetics and functionality of interior spaces.

The Cell Coffee Table is made of MDF with a lacquer colored wood finish, and its standout feature is its modular framework. This framework can embody separated boxes of different sizes and colors, allowing for customizable storage solutions. Each cell corresponds to a different need, providing a variety of storage areas that can be tailored to the user's preferences.

One of the key strengths of the Cell Coffee Table is its adaptability. The dimensions of the table can be easily modified by adjusting the framework, allowing it to grow or shrink to meet the user's changing needs. Whether it's a small apartment or a spacious living room, this coffee table can be adjusted to fit any space.

In addition to its functionality, the Cell Coffee Table also adds a touch of visual interest to any room. The colors of the cells interact with each other and with the surrounding space, creating a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere. The alternating black and white squares, reminiscent of a chessboard, add a playful and sophisticated element to the design.

For added convenience, the Cell Coffee Table can be equipped with wheels, allowing for easy mobility. This feature makes it perfect for those who frequently rearrange their living spaces or need to move the table around for different purposes. However, if the table is not on wheels, each cell can be separated from the rest and used as a side table, providing even more versatility.

The Cell Coffee Table was designed and manufactured by Anna Moraitou for personal use in 2008. It was later exhibited in 2013 during the GREEK DESIGN=GOOD DESIGN Exhibition of OBI, Industrial Property Organisation. This design has received widespread recognition and was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2014. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, technical skill, and contribution to quality of life improvements.

The Cell Coffee Table is not just a piece of furniture; it is a statement about the possibilities of design and the importance of thoughtful consumption. With its unique modular framework, customizable storage options, and visually striking design, this coffee table is sure to be a conversation starter in any home.
